Frequent Account Lockout Troubleshooting

Check If a Local User Account is present with the same Name as AD account

Click on Start menu à run button type à lusrmgr.msc
  • If Present Change/ Rename the local User account.
  


Internet Explorer Clearing Temporary Files

Click here to clear temp files or follow below steps

  • Take a fresh browser and select Internet Options from Tools Menu
  • Click on Delete Cookies
  • Click on Delete Files
  • Click on Clear History Button
  • This will clear all your temporary files and History.
  • Delete files in the Temp / Prefetch folder.

  


  1. Clearing Saved Passwords and Forms

  • Take a fresh browser and select Internet Options from Tools Menu
  • Select the content  and click on ‘AutoComplete’ you will get a screen as shown below


  • Click on clear forms and clear  passwords as shown below:




  • This will clear all the stored passwords

Mozilla Firefox Clearing Temporary Files 

Check If a Local User Account is present with the same Name as AD account

Clearing Temporary Files 

Below are the steps to clear temp files for Mozilla Firefox

Click on toolsàOptions..







Click on Security tabàSaved Password


Clear all Passwords





Click on Privacy tabàclick on Clear now optionàthen ok..
Selectà the option always clear my private data when I close Firefoxàok



Removing Mapped Drives

Go to My Computer
Right click on the shared drive (if any)
Click disconnect in the menu.
This will remove the Shared Drive


If user is using Adobe Reader 8

Delete the Updater5 folder located at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe as shown below






Delete the AdobeUpdater.dll file in the folder C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 8.0\Reader



Remove the Stored passwords

StartàRun
Typeà Control UserPasswords2 in Run Menu
Go to AdvancedàManage Passwords




Remove all stored passwords


Check Antivirus Client for Defn Update / Virus infections.




Below are the Extra steps to be doneà


Go to StartàRunàTasks àRemove any unwanted scheduled tasks.




Double click on the tasks
Set password apply and ok




If any task is scheduled check


·         Remove toolbars like yahoo, Google etc...
·         Check proxy password settings in third party applications like G-Talk, Google desktop.
·         Clear if any ad user id password saved in WIFI settings/VPN settings.
·         Check whether user using any other system/or logged in any other system.
·         Check any other application using AD authentication.


For Windows 7 regedit cleaning the password.

For Windows XP regedit cleaning the password.

Removing Proxy setting in Gtalk
  1. Open Gtalk Windows, In the Top Right click on Settings link.
  2. In the Left Panel choose the option Connections.
  3. In the Right Panel change the option to Use the Following Proxy
  4. Remove check mark that ask for  Proxy requires Authentication as shown below screenshot
  5. Click on OK button and now sign in with Gtalk. It will work



Clear the entire password history which asks for authentication (like username, password…) while accessing the internet through internet explorer, Firefox….etc.

Check any application uses AD authentication. Clear all possible password caches in that application.
